Recovering legacy GeneXus environments to prepare technical continuity
Technical experience preparing legacy GeneXus environments, documenting the as-is architecture and planning continuity without claiming final acceptance.
Result in operation
Environment readiness states and the as-is architecture were documented; final handover acceptance is not established by the available evidence.

The case at a glance
01 · Challenge
Establish a technical baseline for several legacy knowledge bases with dependencies and incomplete documentation.
02 · Intervention
Prepare environments, verify builds where applicable, document dependencies and plan technical handover artifacts.
03 · Outcome
Environment readiness states and the as-is architecture were documented; final handover acceptance is not established by the available evidence.
When an organization inherits software, access to source code alone does not make it reproducible. Dependencies, tools, licenses, build parameters and architectural knowledge may be missing.
Documented technical engagement
In an engagement for a technology operator, Eximus worked on enabling several GeneXus knowledge bases and documenting the existing architecture. The internal evidence distinguishes configured, operational environments from those only prepared for generation; they did not all reach the same verification level.
The work included preparing environments and dependencies, performing basic checks where possible, recording constraints and documenting the as-is architecture. A potential future migration to another stack was also analyzed, but the analysis is not evidence that a rewrite was delivered.
What a useful baseline includes
- Identified source assets and dependencies.
- A clear separation between build readiness, execution and checks still pending.
- Architecture and blockers recorded without hiding uncertainty.
- Prepared source packages, instructions and handover materials for the next support team.
Observed result and limitations
The sources support environment configuration, as-is documentation and decisions about continuity materials. They do not establish final functional acceptance of every knowledge base or formal acceptance of the third-party handover. Operating the client's infrastructure and deployments was outside Eximus's scope.
What other buyers can learn
Before commissioning a full migration, a bounded technical recovery and discovery phase may be appropriate. Acceptance criteria should distinguish configuration, compilation, execution, documentation and handover.
